Trip Five: Supposed to be to Glory Hole

We almost died. No, not really, but it was a good lesson. More later. Checking the map. We were at the Inlet Canal, I found out later. Should have gone a little farther to the Refuge Farm. It is very nice at the Farm. We have stopped there to have lunch in a little grove of cottonwood. Next time. Here come the pics.

This is a picture of the canal very close to the road. On the other side of the road is the Colorado River.

There is a nice little bridge across the canal, but I couldn't get close enough for a good shot. Nice place to sit and sketch with the reflection of the bridge in the water.

Here is a picture of the bridge looking back toward the road.

Just along the canal. Next time we are going to try the walk on the other bank.

The canal is very picturesque. And...

There are big huge fish down there. Can you see them? They were swimming by pretty fast.

Can you believe people use this beautiful place for a dump?

I'm not sure this tree is indigenous!

End of the trail.

Gaby and Maty on the trail. This trail is a workout. Up to your ankles in sand. Great exercise. And a great place to take photos of animal footprints for identification purposes.

Oh, yes, this part. We parked by the road. Thought we were out of everyone's way, but one back tire got totally stuck in the sand. Two nice guys helped us. Jesse had to get a cable to pull us out. Peewee came along and told me what to do while Jesse pulled me out with his pickup. Jesse works at Riverview Golf Course and Peewee has a farm down by the Refuge. I am going to check around to make sure I have there names correct. They are definitely going to get some holiday treats from Gaby and me. The end.
