Trip Two: Topock Marina to Oatman

Took Eagle Pass Road Sat. night and it was washed out. Seemed like a pretty good gravel road, but one section had about a 2 foot wide and 3 to 4 foot deep wash out across the whole width of it. Had incredible weather Fri. afternoon and night, thunder and lightning and pretty big hale. Power was out probably 10 hours. Will see what it says in the paper. A lot of evidence of flooding and branches down from trees. I95 has been closed several days now. Can't go any farther than Calzona RV Park.

Gaby and I started out Sun. morning to go from Topock Marina through Golden Shores to Oatman. It was the best ride. Very beautiful that way. We will definitely go back when it is cooler. Went through little Oatman, very cute. Turned around a ways out of town. Need to look that section up on the map. Only about 20 to 25 miles to I40 and Kingman. I was a little lost there. We went home using Boundary Cone Rd. back to the 95 going to Bullhead City. I definitely will always go to Oatman the back way (?). It is much neater. Gaby really perked up when we went through Oatman. Funny how she notices where humans are. She definitely really liked Avi Casino when we went there. To bad she can't go in. She would probably love it!

Will take pictures next time. We were on the sun-up side of the mountains. Oatman is 2700 feet.

Uploaded the topo map. At the bottom of the map is the road coming from Golden Shores. I see now that it loops around east and back to the I40 above Oatman. Kingman is a short ways farther on the I40. The detailed topo map would be good to look at from Golden Shores to Oatman in order to get all the peaks, buttes, mountain and mine names. Kind of colorful and historical place.
